this is a blog about the food in my life. what I eat, what I wanna eat, what I make, what I bake, what I wanna make and bake, ideas and recipes. it's also my thoughts on food or stories behind the meals. The lyric references are from my lifelong love of classic rock and funk and from working a hunnerd years in music retail.

Everybody Plays the Fool Sometimes
Made fresh tomatillo sauce in celebration of PathMark finally carrying them again. I made some homemade chicken stock and in the process poached my chicken thighs for shredded chicken. I wanted to make chicken chilaquiles verde. Chicken, check. Tomatilla salsa, check. Onions, Mexican cheese, check. Shit, no corn tortillas or chips.
Can you make chilaquiles with stale flour torts? Answer is yes, but its a bit like eating wet paper towels. Mmmmm. No its better, but I won't do it again. It was a foolish mistake really. I knew better. They were still tasty but the textures were way off.
I did however cook the corn in my chicken broth and that made it super tender and tasty. Didn't need to put butter, just salt. A miss and a hit.

Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone at home?
