Split bagels from La Bagel Delight on Lafayette.  Is there anything better than their toasted Everything bagel with cream cheese, onion and tomato??  That cold cream cheese hits that hot crunchy, onion-y, chewy dough and then the bite of the onion comes into play with the fruity tang of the tomato. For a morning treat anyway, these are up there.  

As is, the perfect simple pleasure of a pan with garlic, oil and red pepper flakes, where happiness begins for greens.

Smokey Citrus Chicken with Broccoli Rabe

This was a simple wet rub and marinade using Smoked Paprika, garlic, onion powder, orange juice, soy, olive oil, salt and pepper.  I massaged the rub in and then let sit in fridge for 20 minutes before roasting on 375 for 40 minutes.  Every oven is different but isn't it interesting how we seem to keep increasing the temperature on everyday recipes.  It's good to bake dark meat chicken at 425 for 25 minutes.  You get a crispier skin and the meat cooks through but I admit I like my chicken with absolutely no fight.  The great thing about legs and thighs, is they can withstand long and slow or fast and hot.  Cheeky bastards!

All of this is highly enjoyable but nothing beats hanging with my sister, fellow foodie and lover of all things tasty.
