Well Well You, You Make My Dreams Come True

Brisket Brothers replaced Habana To Go here in Fort Greene, our steak and corn salad weekday savior.

As we laid into these bizarre loaded fries and brisket burgers we couldn't help but laugh that this new mystery business is run by two brothers, one, Ralph, the guy who famously got busted for selling weed out of P's favorite beer store on Lafayette years ago.  Don't get me wrong, I ate way more of this then I should have but the hindsight review was a little harsher.  On the positive, If I was broke and ordered these fries, I could make them a full meal, the portions are generous.  But for a semi-expensive add on to a burger, you expect real melted cheese or some flare if you call them loaded fries.  Instead, this was that weird liquid orange stuff and then covered with pieces of Pastrami.

And in a way I'm torn because I sort of love that these two New Yorker brothers would say, 'hey wouldn't it be great to smother the fries with that cheese we love and then the other excitedly saying back, yeah, then top THAT with a bunch of pastrami bits and then naming it the Park Slope.  It should work really but its heavy and needs a fresh note.  I could see a homemade creamy cheese sauce, then broiled to get everything super crispy and melted, then topped with green onions and maybe drizzled with a little herbed pesto for a pop.

We split the Reuben and Brisket Burger.  I would never guess they meant actual brisket with a burger but now it makes sense.  When you're hungry and you're a NY'er named Bambi, that probably would be a dream burger.  In reality, not the best idea or possibly with the right sauce or the saving grace of a little green crunch in between the meat layers.  And the Rueben had something funny going on with the sauce. Possibly something added that wasn't supposed to be in there?  Tasted like dish soap and sugar. Growing pains maybe.  All in all it was enjoyable because we love a good story and P was very affected at the time of Ralph's closure, having to venture out seeking the temperature perfection that Ralph achieved on his cold beer.
For breakfast a little hash.
