We Won't Get Fooled Again

This is a little trendy but I roasted a whole head of cauliflower.  I saw it in a magazine and let's face it, cauliflower is really good but it's really hard to get excited about it.  This works!  A spritz of oil, s&p and that's it.  Roast.
I grilled my marinated chicken breast strips on my new Emeril Lagasse Grill pan.  It took me a minute to remember how to season it.  I'll never forget  when I went to visit my folks in Tucson.  It was all going well. My dad made us a nice big breakfast so I washed the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen.  I scrubbed his cast iron pans clean and left them stacked together in the oven, dry.  That night he pulled them out to make dinner and all I heard was a loud run-on sentence of curse words in Spanish that had my name on the end of it.  This was a very familiar sound from my childhood but not something you want to hear when you're visiting as an adult.  I made a point not to learn the translations of his rants lest I get my feelings hurt. But it would be hard not to notice words like stupid, pain in the ass, that sort of thing.  I didn't know you had to rub a bit of oil on the pans after cleaning or they'd rust right away.
You'd think you'd never forget a lesson like that but ironically I did the exact same thing with this new pan the first time out.  Some people just don't learn good.

Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone at home?
